The international goose

All the permits

The stupid city officials and cadastral office finally approved the paperwork they lost, they now officially know that I have a house and 5 apartments on my lot. You know, like they already should have known for 15+ years.

Everything is measured, spelled out and prepared. And after weeks and weeks of timewasting the red-tape ran out. They couldn't delay and be corrupt any further. So it got all registered and approved. No doubt they already put everything I made happen in a box ready to get lost. So that the next time I want something from them I have to do this all over again and pay their shitty fees again.

The next step is to get a building permit, which already turned into 3 permits and I haven't even filed any paperwork yet. Aparently I also need a renewed land use permit and a renovation permit. Plus whatever other bullshit they'll come up with over the process or being lazy, inadequate and corrupt. Who knows what they'll dream up next.

Maybe, just maybe I can finally start renovating the apartment this century.
But I have little hope at this point.

I met with the construction company this week and they agreed that it's a huge waste of time. Luckily they're helpful with some of the paperwork and dealing with the officials. I could've done that myself and save some money, but I really don't have the patience for this crap. Plus my Espanol Tecnico is not all that good. So as long as the legalese and difficult words elude me I'll let someone else handle that.

While that's going on we've ordered some more work done on the downstairs house. Build a wall, start with the bathroom. Replace a few windows. That sort of thing. That can be done without a permit for some reason.

So let's get moving and start making something nice! Once we accept their price offer, that should kick off pretty quickly.

house, renovation, mexico
