Social media must be the loneliest place on the internet

Because of every websites insistence, including mastodon, on increasingly locking down content and not promoting anything anywhere.

I have hundreds of followers on Mastodon, but never get a comment and rarely get like or boost that isn't from a bot. Unless it's some asshole criticizing me. Over the years I've gained hundreds of followers on X, but never get any views on my tweets. I used to have thousands of followers on Facebook pages. But that never got me any interaction or likes. Or indeed sales for the products I promoted. And when I still used Instagram I rarely got more than 10 likes or whatever it's called if you click the heart icon.

Now I don't particularly care about having a large social circle, or to have many friends. But if I put my energy into something - Writing a post about something I did or experienced, sharing nice photos, making a video or promoting some product I made - and I put that online on the supposedly most social and public places on the internet. You'd expect some attention at least.

But no... Social media insists on being the loneliest place on the internet.
