Bacalar

Bacalar in Quintana Roo is a fun small town near Chetumal, which is situation on the border with Belize. Bacalar is on the edge of some great blue lakes or lagoons. And offers a relaxed atmosphere for weekend getaways or similar trips.

If you're up for it you can visit a number of historic sites in the area, routes to the Kohunlich and Oxtankah ruins are included as well.

From Cancun to Bacalar you'll follow the main high way for the most part. Going back is a bit more adventurous following smaller roads and paths through the jungles of Quintana Roo.
