The roof came off

Earlier this week we finally started building my house. Or re-building I should say. The original plan was to renovate. Then we figured the roof was too low, so it needs to be raised. Then the floor space was too small, so let's add a room and re-do the bathroom in a new location. And so it spiraled out of control pretty quickly from renovating a roof apartment, into a extension and finally into a complete rebuild.

That was all decided and planned for, say, 2 months ago. But then because of the bigger project suddenly we needed all kinds of permits and we quickly got buried in red-tape. I hate this pointless nonsense governmental bullshit. I paid for the land, the house. The appartments. There is no outstanding debt - I own this place. It's mine! Stop interfering with the simple things I want to do.

I still don't have a building permit. It's still pending. But for some reason the city engineer told my engineer that we could start. With no repercussions. And if that's allowed, why do I need to waste 2 months on documentation and permits anyway. Yes... Don't ask! It pisses me off to no end.
They could've just let me get started and demand I tell them what I did when it was done - Like a obligation to report improvements.

Anyway, the upstairs structure is built so horrid that more and more material needs to be removed and rebuilt. So simply removing the roof, reinforcing the structure a little, and putting on a new roof wasn't safe. The construction crew removed an extra layer from the walls. That lower structure aparently is good enough. Then they'll construct concrete beams and pillars to reinforce the overall structure so that the weight of the roof can rest on top of that. That's what I understand from what they're going to do anyway.

Today most of the basic building materials got delivered. Blocks, concrete, steel. Some of the bathroom tiling is already here. And the plastic tubing for the electrical system. I think the planning is that next week they start building up the walls.
